How it works
Each colour in your design gets its own screen: a fine mesh with your artwork burned into it as a stencil. Ink is pulled across the screen and pushed through onto the garment, then cured with heat so it bonds permanently. Repeat for every colour, in register, on every piece.
That screen preparation is why there’s a setup cost and a sensible minimum. It’s also why the twentieth shirt costs a fraction of the first — once the screens exist, printing is fast.
Where screen print wins
- Volume. Nothing beats it per unit above 25 pieces.
- Vivid colour on dark garments. A white underbase makes colours sit bright on black.
- Longevity. Properly cured plastisol outlives most garments.
- Specials. Metallic, puff, glow and high-density inks are screen-only effects.
Where it doesn’t
We’ll say so if screen printing is the wrong call. Photographs, gradients and logos with eight colours in them get expensive fast — that’s DTG territory. Under 25 pieces, setup dominates the price. And on waterproof or heavily technical fabrics, vinyl usually behaves better.

Screen printing gets cheaper the more you print — the setup is a one-off, so the per-garment cost drops sharply with quantity. Tell us the garment, how many, and how many colours are in the artwork, and we’ll come back with a fixed price.
Artwork that prints well
- Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) are ideal — they scale cleanly to any size
- High-resolution PNG at 300dpi at final print size also works
- Tell us the Pantone references if your brand has them

Common questions
What’s the real minimum?
We’ll print from 25. Below that the screen setup makes DTG or vinyl better value, and we’ll point you there rather than take the bigger order.
Can I mix garment colours in one run?
Yes, as long as the ink colours work on all of them. Mixing light and dark garments sometimes needs a different ink build, which we’ll flag in the quote.
Can I mix sizes?
Always. Size mixes don’t affect the price — the print is identical, only the garment changes.
How long does a run take?
3–5 working days as standard from artwork approval. Larger runs and multi-colour designs can take longer; urgent jobs are often possible, so ask.
